H&R BLOCK: DOLLLARS AND SENSE
Nationwide, only 15 percent of high school graduates receive any formal personal finance education.
School budgets are tight and demands on parents and teachers are high, but together we can ensure more teens learn money management skills so they are prepared the first time they have to pay utilities, open a bank account or have a credit card in hand. We’ve awarded, more than $2.5 million in curriculum grants and scholarships to high schools and students across the country…and we’re just getting started.
The Curriculum
The curriculum we donate to schools is an experience-based simulation called Virtual Business® Personal Finance. It allows students to learn and practice 18 money management skills in an environment that mimics real life. The software is accompanied by lesson plans and study materials so grant recipients have everything they need to teach personal finance.
